The Olds Media Challenge raises over $3,000 for Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research
A turn-around in the weather made for a great day in Olds for the annual Terry Fox Run for cancer research on Sunday September 14th. According to organizer Grace Fletch there were fifty-nine participants ranging in age from babies in strollers to seniors. They walked, biked or ran the 5 kilometer course through Olds with some completing a second time around for a total of 10 kilometers. The total pledges for this year’s run were $6,225. This will be added to the money raised later in the month by the local schools in Olds.
Grace Fletch announced her retirement from organizing the Olds Terry Fox Run after twenty-five years and asked for new folks to take it over.
The Olds Media Challenge contributed over $3,000. Murray Elliot of the Olds Albertan raised $1,530, Melanie Hepp of CKFM Radio raised $1,160 and Dean Owen of Olds Community TV brought in $315. Murray Elliot ran the 10k course while Melanie Hepp and Dean Owen had stand-ins for the run.
