During a special presentation at a Town of Olds Council meeting on May 26, Mayor Judy Dahl and Fire Chief Lorne Thompson awarded service plaques and pins to Olds Fire Department Firefighters.

One year service plaques were presented to: Joel Bartkiewicz, Casey Bateman, Bruce Cevraini, Dale Lulchak, Jim Massey and William Nel. Firefighters Dean Casey and Eric Fahlman were not able to attend the ceremony but will receive their awards at a later date from Chief Thompson.

Ten years service pin was presented to: Rus McKevitt. Firefighter David Loshny was unable to attend the event but his twenty years service award was received by Deputy Chief Brian Powell on his behalf.

The Olds Fire Department Firefighters receive recognition for service from the Alberta provincial government but a local ceremony has become a traditional way for the Olds Town Council to say thank you and to recognize their commitment to the town and the region’s safety.
