Volunteers join forces to support the Breakfast for Learning program at Deer Meadow School
‘Breakast for Learning’ is a national program whose objective is to ensure that children are well-nourished and ready to learn through-out the school day. The program is in 2200 schools and community centres across Canada including Deer Meadow School in Olds.
A number of groups from the community join forces and volunteer their time to setup, prepare and deliver breakfast to over 600 students a week during the 9 months of the school year.
We spoke with Hugh Bodmer, President of the the Kiwanis Club of Olds at a recent breakfast. The Kiwanis Club has a long history in Olds and Hugh offered suggestions on how people can get involved with the organization and help make a difference in the community.
