What a difference a new road can make
A new road from high-way 27 feeding into the Uptowne core was dedicated with a grand opening and ribbon cutting on Thursday October 10th. Fifty-first avenue runs across the old high school property and joins highway 27 and 48th street. This project signifies the collaboration between various levels of government and fits into the Uptowne area redevelopment plans.
On hand were Blake Richards, MP for Wildrose, Cal Dallas, Minister of International and Intergovernmental Relations for the province of Alberta, Judy Dahl, Mayor of the Town of Olds and Colleen Butler, Board Chair for Chinooks Edge School Division.
Norm McInnis, the CAO of the Town also acknowledge other partners and players in making this project a success. We asked him why what appeared to be just another road was such a significant event for Olds. We also spoke with Leon Durand, Chair of the Uptowne Olds Committee about the impact on the Uptowne core this road will have.
